How It Works

I love to explore out-of-the-way places, and every month brings a new surprise to your mailbox: whether roasting in the Sahara, scrambling around the Inca ruins of Machu Picchu, or searching for birds-of-paradise in New Guinea.

I really do visit each destination, and write and illustrate these letters from my own, firsthand experiences.

I'm a writer and artist from Eugene, Oregon, and lead international wildlife-viewing tours. I've authored several books for National Geographic, specializing in wild birds.
